Chromate conversion coatings are processes that affect the surface of a part and result in no measurable build up. These coatings are commonly used as an undercoat before painting. Depending on the coating and the class of said coating, the electrical resistance and corrosion resistance can vary. Non-chromate conversions are ROHS compliant finishing alternatives to traditonal chromate conversions.
These two processes are chromate conversions. Alocrom 1200 is a surface treatment that gives a part a distinctive yellowy/gold colour- which stems from the hexavalent chromium present inside the solution. The intensity of the colour is dependent on immersion time and the material grade of the aluminium.
Alocrom 1000 offers the same protections as Alocrom 1200 but offers a clear finish.

1000: 3ft x 2ft x 3ft
Unlike the aforementioned Alocrom processes, both Iridite NCP and Surtec 650 are ROHS compliant conversion coatings. These surface finishes both provide a silvery-clear finish to a part and the solution does not contain any hexavalent chromates. Instead, Iridite is a non-chromium passivate and Surtec 650 is a trivalent chromium passivate. Both processes offer similar advantages.
