We offer Silver Cyanide plating with Nickel Chloride strikes [for both decorative and engineering] applications.
Overview: Silver plating is typically used for electronic and electrical applications.
Standard | Thickness |
BS 2816 Standard Thickness | 2-5µm |
Tanks: We offer tank sizes up to 5' x 2.5' x 2.5'.
Barrel: We offer tank sizes up to 3' x 3' x 3'.
Thickness: Standard thicknesses of 2-5µm are deposited. However, thicknesses of 40-76µm can also be achieved. Heavier coatings are often used on surfaces subject to heavy friction such as sliding electrical contacts as well as for use in aggressive environments such as paper mills where hydrogen sulfide causes corrosion.
Silver Strikes: All silver plating is given a silver strike using either silver cyanide, potassium cyanide for most materials and nickel chloride for stainless steel.
Decorative & Protective Silver Plating: Decorative silver is applied with silver cyanide, cyanide potassium & carbonate potassium solution for deposits of up to 30µm.
Engineering
Silver Plating: For engineering applications a much
stronger silver cyanide, cyanide potassium & carbonate
potassium solution is used with the addition of potassium
hydroxide to achieve thicknesses up to 100µm.
